Just a few days after its writer-director Anjali Menon won the Kerala State Film award for the best script, Manjadikkuru is in the midst of a controversy.
The allegation is that the film was censored in 2007. The film was also shown in the International Film Festival of Kerala in 2008.
The film's makers have stated that though they had applied for the censor certificate then, they didn't take it from them. It was re censored and after issuing a 'revised' certificate in 2012, the censor board clarified later that it is not a revised one.
As per certain sources, even the top honchos from the film industry are not coming in support of Anjali Menon, as they feel that it was not right to present an already censored film once again with a new censor certificate, several years later. There are already demands that the award should be withdrawn.
