`Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum`

Ashrita Shetty who made her debut in Udhayam NH4 opposite Siddharth  is all smiles after the release of her second film Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum . Mumbai based Ashrita in an exclusive chat with talks about her working experience in OKMK and her future projects. Here are the excerpts:

Your debut movie Udhayam NH4 released last April. It’s been a year since its release and your second movie OKMK is releasing now. Why such a long gap.

Actually, I was completing my degree. So I wanted to finish it first. It required me to attend the college regularly. So I had to choose a project which wouldn’t interfere with my studies. Luckily, I had to shoot only for a few days for OKMK, that too during my college holidays.

What is your take on OKMK ?
It’s a different movie.  It has the usual 'Chimbudevan touch' to it. I’m the Kanniyum in OKMK. I play Isabella, a Catholic girl who is urban and modern. I’m the surprise package in the movie. That’s why you won’t see me a lot in the trailer or in promos.

How was it working with Arulnithi and Bindu Madhavi?
Both of them are very friendly co-stars. I shot for the whole movie in just 10 days. They made me comfortable and I always felt at home in the sets. Bindu Madhavi has more experienced than me. We had a good time while shooting in Pondy.

Director Chimbu Devan has a niche for himself in Tamil. How was it working for him?
Director Chimbu Devan Sir is the most chilled out person I know of. He clearly knows what he wants and he helps the actors to extract their best. The whole shooting of OKMK was fun and very relaxed. I also have a scene with Actor Nassar Sir. It was a privilege to work with him.

After OKMK, Have you signed any other projects?
I’m in talks with a big production house in Tamil. We have to wait for them to make an official announcement. Also I’m doing a cameo with  Gautham Karthik in Indrajith under Dir Kala Prabhu’s direction. I had a great time shooting with them.

Who are your favorite actors in Tamil? Whom do you want to work in the future?
I’m a big fan of Actor Suriya. I met him in Mumbai during Anjaan shoot. I took a pic with him and it went viral in Social media. Hope to work with him some day. Don’t get me wrong. I also like Ajith and Vijay. Hope to work with all the top heroes in Tamil.

So far, you have acted in Tamil. What is your take on other South Indian languages and Hindi?
I’m looking for a good launch in Telugu. I want to work with a good team. Compared to a year ago, I feel more confident now. So I can do justice in Telugu. Of-course, Hindi is the ultimate destination for any Mumbai girl. But I’m more comfortable in South. At-least for now. Let’s see what the future holds.

Your good friend Amyra Dastur makes her big debut in Tamil with Dhanush in Anegan. Are you in touch with her?
Yes. Very happy for her. I haven’t spoken to Amy recently. She also has one more Hindi movie with Emraan Hashmi. She is doing really well.
