Chennai: AVM productions on Wednesday said that media reports on the sale of theatrical rights of their forthcoming film Sivaji are untrue.
The production house clarified that overseas rights for the film were not finalised yet. "We are negotiating the rights for Audio, VCD, DVD and theatrical rights for Europe, Canada, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the Middle East with our regular distributor Karunamurthy of Ayngaran International. The distribution rights in other countries like USA, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, Mauritius and other territories are still under discussion. The rights for Tamil Nadu are awaiting finalisation," a press release issued by AVM said.
The release said that a Sify.com article, which said that AVM had sold the theatrical rights for the state of Kerala for Rs. 3.1 crores is untrue. "In fact, we have sold the rights for Rs. 2.6 crore and not as mentioned in the report," the release said.
Similarly, other media reports had said that theatrical rights for Andhra Pradesh had been sold for an amount of Rs.16 Crores. "But the actual figure is Rs. 8 crore only," the release said.
