The inaugural edition of Times of India Film Awards saw Barfi! steal the spotlight by bagging best film, best director, best actor, best actress, and best debut (female).
The win was an emotional one for Priyanka Chopra as she accepted the award along with her ailing father who had flown all the way to be there with her for the special moment. It was a touching sight as Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar helped her dad Ashoka Chopra, up the stage.
A visibly moved Priyanka said, "This is a very special moment for me as my dad came all the way flying 30 hours to be with me. Thanks, papa." Boman Irani fortified the win with a lovely compliment - "You are truly a wonderful daughter."
In the critics awards category, it was Gauri Shinde who won best debut director for English Vinglish, Deepika Padukone for best actress (Cocktail) and Irrfan for best actor (Paan Singh Tomar). Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur won the Critic's choice best film award.
