Black September for the Kannada film industry

September has been a bad month for the Kannada film industry as it lost four great film personalities who had worked for the Kannada film industry. Bengaluru based Tamil film actor Murali who had started acting in Kannada films in the early part of his career died early this month.

Later Kannada film industry lost actor-writer-director Rathnakar who had died in Mysore after a prolonged illness. Just a few days after Rathnakar's death, it was film director M.V.Krishna Swamy`s turn. He headed the film's division for many years.

M.V.Krishnaswamy was known popularly as MVK studied films in Europe and had assisted many celebrated film makers such as Roberto Rosellini. He directed award winning films like Subba Shashtry and had recently received the prestigious V.Shantharam award. People hardly had time to recover from his death.

Within two days of MVK`s death, Kannada film industry lost another jewel, Ms. Vaishali Kasaravalli who was a multi talented personality who dabbled in theatre, films and television industry. Certainly, Septebmer has been the most cruel month for the Kannada film industry in recent times.
