Deepika Padukone: B-town's style cat!

Whenever a new Bollywood heroine turns successful, immediately you will hear a Kollywood director “claiming” that he has approached her to do his next film. Tamil directors are willing to pay mega bucks to a Bollywood heroine so that they can get the “priority dates” of the hero.

Two days back a newspaper reported that Deepika Padukone is Shankar’s lead heroine for his ambitious Vikram project I. As the news spread on the net, Deepika called up PTI and denied the news.

Deepika Padukone rubbished the reports that she is doing Shankar's upcoming film, saying she has no clue about the film. A peeved Deepika told PTI - "I got a Google alert about it (this film), but they are all rumours. I am not doing Shankar's film.”

Recently another newspaper first floated stories that Parineeti Chopra after the success of Ishaqzaade was to be Karthi’s heroine in Venkat Prabhu’s Biriyani. The same newspaper a month later is now claiming the current Bollywood sensation Diana Penty model and actress after the hit Cocktail, will be trying out Venkat Prabhu’s Biriyani!

Venkat Prabhu could not be contacted for his comments. However one of  Bollywood’s  casting agent said: “ First and foremost Bollywood heroines who do Tamil and Telugu films go south only after their innings get over in Mumbai. Some others may have gone tempted by the huge money south film offers. Now nobody especially the new girls like Parineeti or Diana would commit the folly of doing south movies especially when they are red hot in Mumbai.”

Remember some months back, Bollywood star Prachi Desai walked out of Arun Vijay’s Thadayara Thakka, after taking a huge advance from him?

So next time you hear such “exclusive” stories of top Bollywood heroines doing Tamil films, wait for the denial from the actress concerned. In most cases these stories are “manufactured” in Chennai to promote or glorify the film or the star concerned.
