“Ek ladki do ladko ko aashiq bana deti hai” - Sonu Sood
By IndiaFM
He debuted with the most low-profile version among the spate of Bhagat Singh films that sprang in Bollywood a couple of years back. Having worked with filmmakers as diverse as Mani Ratnam to Guddu Dhanoa, Sonu Sood is still to prove his standing in Bollywood. and finally he may get the chance with back to back significant roles in Siskiyaan and Aashiq Banaya Aapne. In an interview, Sonu Sood talks about his upcoming film Aashiq Banaya Aapne.

What character do you play in Aashiq Banaya Aapne?
I'm playing the character of Karan in this film. He is a very reserved, shy person who finds it difficult to express his feelings to anyone. Even when he's talking to his friends, for example when he's talking to Vicky (played by Emraan Hashmi) or when he expresses his feeling to Sneha (played by Tanushree Dutta) you can make out that he is rather reserved and shy. Karan keeps to himself and is an introvert.

What was your experience while working with your co-stars?
I worked with a young team. My co-stars were Emran and Tanushree so I think it was a very healthy atmosphere to shoot. It was good to work with Emraan as an actor because I would get my cues at the right time and Tanushree is new to the industry so she had the zeal to learn more and give her best in all the scenes. She was always on her toes.

How was it to work with director Aditya Datt?
Aditya is a very straight forward and clear director. When I read the script for the first time I understood that the director had a clear picture in his mind as to how he wanted to go about making the film. He directed and shot each and every film exactly the way he had narrated it to us. So the direction was done very well and Aditya made everything very clear to us. The experience was phenomenal.

Did you have any memorable or special experiences on the sets of the movie?
We used to pull Tanushree's leg a lot on the sets of the film. She was always the target of our ragging. Emran and I used to continuously make up some story or the other and trap her. I remember one incident when Tanushree had to do a running scene and we told her that the shot had to be done in slow motion, so she kept running in that fashion until we asked her to stop and give a normal take. There were a couple of fun moments like this while we were shooting.

What do you think about the music of 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne ?
The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya …I think the sound track is pretty phenomenal. I like the title song - Ashique Banaya Aapne a lot. Also, the song called Janasheen and another titled Kareeb Aa are good songs. I think in totality it's a complete, well rounded album.

Which are the songs filmed on you?
There are three songs that have been picturized on me. Two songs are already on air and are getting promoted. The third one is a party song and I think all three are interesting numbers.

Why is the film titled 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne'?
There is one girl who makes both the men go crazy about her. Both of them are in love with her and are always waiting for a chance to impress her. So that's the basic story line. Ek ladki do ladko ko aashiq bana deti hai.

What has the film done for your career?
Aashiq Banaya Aapne was a whole new experience. It was like a new classroom for me. I've done different roles so far. In Yuva I played a raw character, in Bhagat Sigh I was a historical character. Aashiq Banaya Aapne is a romantic love story and I haven't done a romantic film till now, so for me, this film gave me the opportunity to portray a new image.
