It has been a nightmare of an Onam 2008 at the Kerala Box Office. Among the three Onam releases—Thirakatha, Thavalam and Thalapavu—only Thirakatha may recover its cost of production.
Veruthe Oru Bharya is the number one at the KBO. The film has brought in the family audiences to the theatres. In 42 days, it has taken a distributors share of Rs 1.82 crore, the highest ever in recent times for a Jayaram film.
At number two is Thirakatha, for which the word of mouth is very good, though collections are just ok.
Mohanlal's Madambi came back into main stations for Onam and did decent business and is in the third position. The film from theatricals alone has got a share of Rs 3.20 crore from releasing stations.
In the fourth place is Thalapavu, which is being considered an art film, while Suresh Gopi's Thavalam is a washout, and is in the fifth place in the chart.
