Box office reports
Crazy Gopalan
Red Chillies
February has brought little cheer to KBO. Mohanlalís Red Chillies took a very good opening, but could not sustain after the first week. However it is OK, for its producers Rajaputra Renjith and distributor Vysakha Rajan. They may recover their investment and get a distributors share of around Rs 3.5 crore in the long run. For Mohanlal it keeps him afloat, and Shaji Kailas gets one more chance to do another larger than life character.
BO verdict : Above Average

Makante Achan
It had a very ordinary start, but picked up after family audiences took it up. The film proves beyond doubt that Sreenivasan has an audience. The film is doing well in smaller stations also though it is best at Ernakulam Shenoys, where it has collected a net of Rs 28.15 lakhs in 35 days
BO verdict : Hit

Dileep got a new lease of life with this film, which will do business worth Rs 4 to 5 crore. The film is a basically a typical slapstick comedy with no logic that has worked with the masses. From Thiruvananthapuram New Theatre alone it has grossed an amazing Rs 35, 87,220 in 35 days.
BO verdict : Super Hit

It could have stayed in the box, because after five years it got so stale that audiences refused to come to the theatres to watch this film directed by one of the finest directors in Malayalam Sibi Malayil. First week gross in Thiruvananthapuram was a measly Rs 50,860!
BO verdict : Colossal flop
