For a change, the KBO has been booming, as Lal’s 2 Harihar Nagar is a blockbuster and the first summer 2009 super
hit. The film will get a distributors share of over Rs 7 crore in the final analysis and is doing well across Kerala,
Bangalore and Chennai.. In five weeks (35 days) the film has got a share of Rs 30 lakhs from Ernakulam, 26 lakhs from
Kozhikode and 24 lakhs from Thiruvananthapuram. No other film in recent times has done such good business, making it a
blockbuster and is clear number one by a mile.
At number two is Sathyan Anthikad’s Bhagyadevatha, which has grossed a decent Rs 2, 15, 000, and can be classified
as a hit. Though the film carries above average reports, its target audiences the families are preferring to watch 2
Harihar Nagar!
In the third position is Sagar alias Jacky, which after bumper opening started sliding and in most places have been
removed to accommodate newer Vishu films. The occupancy for the film in major cities like Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram, a
month after its release is a pathetic 10 to 15 percent! The film due to its bumper opening may scrape through and recover its
budget of Rs 4.5 crore including print and publicity.
At number five is Dileep’s first Fazil film Moz and Cat, which is a total washout and perhaps the actor’s and
veteran director’s biggest disaster. The collections are so pathetic, that theatres are refusing to report it!
