Box office reports
The CBO came alive with the release of Ajithís Aasal, which released in 13 screens in Chennai. It took an extraordinary 100 per cent opening on day one, but fell marginally on day two because of mixed reports. It then stabilised on Sunday. The film is the clear number one by a mile and has netted Rs 66 lakhs in its opening weekend.
At number two is the dark horse Tamil Padam, a spoof which has taken the box office by storm. Its second weekend collections are better than the first!
At number three is Goa, which is steady, but the number of shows have been reduced due to lack of theatres.
James Cameronís Avatar has now become the highest collecting Hollywood film in Chennai and remains rock solid at number four.
Aayirathil Oruvan is gasping for breadth as newer Tamil releases have pushed it back to the fifth position.
