The Kerala summer box-office is pretty lukewarm due to the non
availability of new Malayalam releases. This has worked to the
advantage of Dileep-Kavya starrer Paapi Appacha, which was the
last film to release on April 14 before the ban came.
Paapi Appacha is an average crass comedy made to suit Dileepís
image but worked big time with the family audiences and is the clear
number one. The film has taken a distributors share of Rs 2.82 crore
from 73 releasing stations in 23 days.
At number two is In Ghost House Inn, which after a fantastic
opening dropped as the Dileep film took over. In the third position is
Vijayís Sura which opened in nearly 100 screens on April 30 and
took a fantastic initial and started dropping badly by Sunday. At
number four is Happy Husbands, which is the real winner of the
year and finally at number five is Prithvirajís Thanthoni.
