Box office reports
The bad run at the box-office continue for films in Kerala. There is no real solid Malayalam release, and other language films are also weak. According to the trade, this is because the noyambu period has started and attendance in theatres has plummeted - especially in the Malabar area of the state.
On August 6, four Malayalam films were released. But all were held over on the very first day.
For the sake of a top five, here is the list. Malarvadi Arts Club holds on at the number one position due to lack of competition.
At number two is Penn Patanam, which has grossed a decent Rs 7,60,000 in its first week from Kripa Trivandrum.
In third position is Sakudumbum Shyamala, while Pokkiri Raja celebrated its 100 days last week and is at number four.
At number five is Oru Naal Varum, which has turned out to be another failure for Mohanlal.
