The big three-day Independence Day weekend (Aug 12 to 15) was a tame affair at the box-office. Though new release Jiiva’s Rowthiram opened at the number one position, it carries mixed reports. The film has taken an average opening compared to Jiiva’s last release Ko. At the number two place is the rock steady Kanchana, which seems to be getting better and better as days go by. In the third place is Deivathirumagal, which still continues to attract the family audiences during weekends. In the fourth place is Aarakashan, which in spite of shows getting canceled in multiplexes managed to draw the curious crowd. At number five is Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which continues to be a multiplex favourite.
