Dr. Seuss' The Lorax held on as the No. 1 movie for the second-straight weekend with $38.8 million, easily beating the sci-fi newcomer John Carter.
Adapted from Edgar Rice Burroughs' tales of the Mars adventurer, John Carter stumbled in its domestic debut with just $30.2 million, a bad start given the movie's reported $250 million budget.
But John Carter did solid business internationally with about $70 million.
