Box office reports
Last Friday two big Tamil films, Gautham Menon`s Neethane En Ponvasantham and Prabhu Solomon`s Kumki, were released simultaneously.

NEP due to brand Gautham got bigger screens and more shows in multiplexes, which made it the number one. This helped the film which carries mixed reports to garner more revenue during the weekend in Chennai city and suburbs.

Kumki is a hit which due to strong word-of- mouth is the favourite among family audiences and is going choker block. It is at a strong number two. In the third position is Rajinikanth`s Sivaji 3D which had limited release.

And at number four is Vijay`s Thuppakki which is still going great guns inspite of new releases. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in HFR3D, has taken a good opening and is at number five.
