The summer heat is on as the box-office booms. May has always been a good month for films in Kerala, due to summer holidays and people preferring to watch films in air conditioned comfort.
May kicked off well with Prithviraj`s Mumbai Police taking a good opening and is at number one at the KBO. The suspense thriller worked with youth audiences for its brave and bold theme. It has taken a distributor`s share of Rs 1.71 Crore in 10 days in Kerala, with newly opened multiplex PVR in Kochi topping the share with Rs 11 lakhs.
In the number two position is Nivin Pauly`s new generation thriller-comedy Neram directed by Alphonse Putharan. It has netted approximately Rs 82 lakhs in its opening weekend (May 17 to 19) and has taken a good opening.
And in the third place is the summer super hit Lijo Jose Pellissery directed Amen, which continues to hold on impressively in key towns. The film has crossed Rs 70 lakhs share from Ernakulam city and multiplexes, which is phenomenal.
