|The Kerala box-office is booming as Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph has delivered Drishyam, the biggest blockbuster in recent times. The film which opened on December 19, for the Christmas weekend started on a low key, but from day two swept the box-office.
Drishyam is the clear number one by a mile this Christmas and probably the biggest hit of 2013. The Mohanlal film appealed to the family audiences due to power of the Jeethu Joseph`s script.
The buzz is that it has netted nearly Rs 7 Crore in 10 days since release. But producers Aashirvad Cinemas is keeping a studious silence over its collections, as they don`t want to hype it.
At number two is Aamir Khan`s Dhoom 3 which took the biggest ever opening for a Hindi film in Kerala and is said to have grossed nearly Rs 4.25 Cr in its first 10 days. The film is a huge hit in Kerala.
In the third place is Sathyan Anthikad`s Oru Indian Pranyakatha, which is said to have grossed around Rs Rs 3.30 Cr in its first 10 days. The film is working with family audiences but competition from Drishyam is eating into its collection.
And at number four is Dileep-Lal Jose team`s Ezhu Sundararathrikal which collapsed, and did not even take an opening. The film suffered due to stiff opposition (Drishyam & Dhoom 3) and bad content.
Punalayan Agarbathis still survives at number five in-spite of strong Christmas releases and has already grossed nearly Rs 7 Crore in 25 days, highest ever for a Jayasurya film. At Trichur Girija, the share has touched Rs 22.5 lakhs !
