Chennai Box-Office – Aug 15 to 17

Monday, 18 August, 2014, 07:06

The Independence Day weekend was huge at the CBO. Suriya’s Anjaan has taken a very good opening, nearly Rs 2.4 Crore in three days, though the film carries mixed reports.Anjaan thanks to Suriya’s star power is the number one at the CBO this week. Big surprise Jigarthanda is at number two and holding on well in multiplexes. It has taken a distributors share of Rs 80 lakhs from Chennai city in two weeks, would have been higher if it was tax free.In the third place is Parthipan’s Kathai Thirakathai Vasanam Iyakkam, a film which opened in limited screens but word of mouth is very good and film is sure to pick up.At number four is Velai Illa Patadhari, which continues to attract family audiences and is very strong in multiplexes in its fifth week. Ajay Devgan’s Singham Returns has taken a decent opening and is at number five.
