Chennai Box-Office - May 1 to 3

Tuesday, 5 May, 2015, 12:40

It was a sad weekend, as Kamal Haasan's highly hyped Uttama Villain did not make it to the screens, on the day of its release. The film lost the May 1 holiday and finally hit the screens on May 2 from Matinee and evening shows in some screens.Uttama Villain as expected took a strong opening and is number one at CBO, though the film carries mixed reports. In the number two place is Aishwarya Dhanush directed Vai Raja Vai, thanks to the absence of Uttama Villain on day one and partially on Saturday, ruled the theatres. Those who booked seats for the Kamal Haasan film were offered VRV tickets and they agreed as they had nothing else to do on a holiday. Vai Raja Vai is an escapist entertainer and is at number two position.Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana continues to rock in its third week and is very strong and collections are as good as the new releases. It is in the third place, but is definitely the big summer winner. And at number four is Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani, still strong in multiplexes. In the fifth place is Avengers: Age of Ultron.
