Chennai Box-Office - May 8 to 10

Tuesday, 12 May, 2015, 01:46

The summer box-office kickstarted in a big way with the grand success of 'Kanchana 2' and 'OK Kanmani'. Raghavendra Lawrence's 'Kanchana 2' went on to become a mega blockbuster and is still going strong at 243 screens in Tamil Nadu.Among the May releases Kamal Haasan's 'Uttama Villain' is doing well only in Chennai city's high-end multiplexes, which has enabled it to be the No.1 at the CBO this week. Remember the film lost out on opening day due to financial issues.'Kanchana 2' is rock steady at No.2. Vijay Antony's 'India Pakistan', which got good reviews and has taken a decent opening, is at No.3. It would have done better if it was trimmed by 15 minutes. And the big surprise at No.4 is Shoojit Sircar's off–beat critically acclaimed 'Piku' taking a very good opening in Chennai multiplexes, where it reported 96% opening. Please note the film is not your usual masala stuff. And at No.5 is the steady 'Vai Raja Vai', a summer hit.
