Chennai Box-Office – May 15 to 17

Monday, 18 May, 2015, 05:39

There has been a drop at the mid-summer box-office, compared to early summer when Kanchana 2 and O Kadhal Kanmani rocked. It may be due to content not living up to expectations. The number one this week at the box-office is SP Jhanathan’s multi starrer on capital punishment Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai which opened in a large number of big screens. In the number two position is Jyothika’s comeback film 36 Vayidhinile on women empowerment, which opened in limited small screens. The film took a good opening and for the weekend played evening shows in bigger audis.Vijay Antony’s India Pakistan has managed to cling on to the third position, due to its good comedy scenes. At number four is Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain, which turned out to be a failure at the box-office. And in fifth place is the blockbuster Kanchana 2.
