Kalaipuli Dhanu produced Kanithan distributed by SPI Cinemas in Chennai City ensured big screens and prime shows and is the number one this week. The film has taken a good opening though it carries mixed reports.

At number two position is Vijay Sethupathi’s Sethupathi, which is holding well in its second week and continues to attract family audiences. In the third place is Jayam Ravi’s Miruthan, which has slipped but holding decently in 'plexes.

Arulnithi’s Aarathu Sinam had very good reports but collections are nothing extraordinary and is at number four. In the fifth place is the Oscar winning The Revenant, which is doing well in high end multiplexes. Leonardo Di Caprio winning the Oscar for best actor along with its director Inarittu winning the best director may boost its collections in Chennai.
