The Diwali 2013 is going to be one of the biggest ever in the history of Kollywood. The producers of four biggies have announced that they are looking at a Diwali release.

The films slotted for release are – Ajith’s Vishnuvardhan directed Arramabam, Karthi’s Rajesh directed All in All Azhaguraja, Vishal’s Suseenthiran directed Pandiya Nadu and Selvaraghavan’s Arya starrer Irandam Ulagam.

The Diwali day is Saturday November 2, so film can release on Friday Nov 1, for the big festival weekend.  But the trade is sceptical of four biggies releasing together. They feel that there are not enough screens and too many releases will spoil the Diwali party.

Annamalai of the powerful TN Theatre owners association feels: “Today a biggie has to release in 300 to 350 screens, and there are hardly 700 screens fit for new releases as the remaining 250 odd screens are in a bad shape and some are touring talkies.  So I feel only two biggies can be accommodated.”

All the four films are in various stages of shooting and post- production. So far only Irandam Ulagam audio has been released. Arrambam, AAAR and Pandiya Nadu audios are yet to be released. It looks like two of the four films announced only will make it. Two of them have to drop out, as there is no space for four releases. The big question is which of the two will finally drop out.

The exhibitors have made it clear that the film which gets censored first and gets U certificate for entertainment tax exemption, will be given preference.
