The pathbreaking director Sasikumar is once again trying his luck as an actor at the box-office. His banner 'Company Productions' is coming out with their new film Sundarapandian, directed by a former assistant SR Prabhakaran.

The posters and trailer of the film showcases it as a mass entertainer, where Sasikumar is projected as a typical larger-than-life hero. In fact he plays a Rajinikanth fan and has an introduction song in the film where he imitates the superstar.

Sasikumar is best known for his debut film Subramaniapuram (2008). The low-budget film received attention for its original script, direction, screenplay, editing and accurate sets and costumes resurrecting Madurai from the 1980s.

However he turned solo action hero under best buddy Samuthirakani’s Nadodigal, which was a hit. It was followed by Easan which he directed and turned out to be a flop. Since then Sasi has donned the angry young man role in films like Masters (Malayalam) and Porali, both which went unnoticed.

Sundarapandian is Sasikumar’s mass masala hero film which he himself is producing. The film is getting a big release this Friday (Sep 14) all over Tamil Nadu and getting prime shows in multiplexes. A lot is riding on Sundarapandian for the actor, director and producer.
If the film clicks, Sasi becomes a saleable mass hero, otherwise he has to go back to direction.
