[India], May 13 (ANI): 'Boys in the Band' announced on Saturday that the evening gig was cancelled due to "a minor injury of a cast member," an hour or so before the show was scheduled to start.
Some of the fans had already arrived at the venue when the announcement came which left them in quite an uproar. Some of them took to Twitter to show their displeasure.
A user wrote, "Wasn't a thirty minute notice possible? You have my email address. I could have found tickets to another show and salvaged my thousand dollar trip just to see the show".
Another user tweeted, "We are here from Minneapolis too, just for this show. So disappointed".
One fan urged the show makers to get a replacement and wrote, " I'm sorry that hear that @jimparsonspriv got hurt and we wish him a speedy recovery. Came from FL just to see te show, so we can't help to be disappointed. Get an understudy. Bazinga!"
"Seriously? Showed up tonight with tickets (great seats) only to find out the show was CANCELED. Sorry Jim hurt his foot, but what happened to understudies? What happened to to "the show must go on?" VERY disappointed", wrote another fan.
Another user commented, "So wrong. Put Mantello on with a script if needed. What happened to "the show must go on?"".
One user questioned, "Why didn't the understudy, Matt McGrath, go on for Jim? He's listed in the credits. What's the point of having an understudy if you don't use him?".
According to reports, Jim Parsons, a part of the ensemble cast, tripped during the Saturday matinee performance which left the 'The Big Bang Theory' actor limping.
The production is underway to pay tribute to the play, which revolves around the lives of gay people in the pre-Stonewall era, on its 50th anniversary. (ANI)
