Ajith , called 'Thalai' by fans, made his debut at the age of 21 in the Telugu movie Prema Pustaka (1992). But it was Aasai, released in 1995, that established his career as a leading actor in Tamil cinema. Kadhal Kottai, Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Vaali only cemented his stature as a top hero. There have been lulls in his career but he's always been able to break it with his superstardom. And now, with his blockbuster 50th film, Mankatha, Ajith's back on headlines in a big way.
