Last week's release, Celluloid, directed by Kamal is based on the life of the father of Malayalam cinema, J C Daniel.
The film shows some sensational issues that denied Daniel any credit for making Malayalam's first movie, Vigathakumaran, during his lifetime.
The film is based on writer Chelangad Gopalakrishnan's account of Daniel's life.
As per the film, the main person responsible for not giving the due for Daniel was Malayattoor Ramakrishnan IAS, who incidentally was a well-known writer as well.
Siddique plays a highly influential government official evidently modeled on Malayattoor, while Sreenivasan is doing the role of Chelangad.
Now the question is, has Kamal done enough research before accusing it all on Malayattoor? The controversy is sure to be debated in the days to come and we will keep you updated on the latest.
