Two members of the regional censor board in Chennai-Munavar Batcha and Rani Krishnan has written to the censor chief Babu Ramaswamy that the promos of Balu Mahendra’s Athu Oru Kana Kalam shown on satellite channels did not mention that the film carries a “A” rating!
It is a rule that the promos should be censored by the censor board before they are shown on television. According to the members, “Athu Oru Kana Kalam was given an “A” certificate, as there was a vulgar kissing scene”.
At the time of censoring, Balu Mahendra was not willing to cut the scene between the lead pair of Dhanush and Priya Mani and opted for an “A” certificate, which he is now refusing to put on posters and promos of the film!
And now after the film has bombed, the makers are trying to cash in on the lip-to-lip kissing scene in the film!
