These are hard times, a good movie is hard to find. Even a reputed director like Krishna Vamsi known for making some memorable films has churned out a dud with his latest film Chakram. The viewer is not asking for trailblazers or high art at the movies. Perhaps some paisa vassol entertainment?

Unfortunately Vamsi seems to have lost his magic touch with a hero like Prabhas in a film that does not suit the actor?s image. The plot is however a rehash of the recent Kal Ho Na Ho and the old Premabhishekam and Rajesh Khanna classic Anand. But sadly the result is a film that is a major let down as it offers nothing new in the way of presentation or style.

Chakram (Prabhas) is a happy-go-lucky guy who is in love with Lakshmi (Asin) and on their wedding day the groom runs away saying that he is not ready to tie the knot! He reached Hyderabad and lives in a housing colony. There he leads a happy life by making others happy by singing songs and helping everyone till finally one day Lakshmi finds him. Chakram's father (Prakash Raj) comes and confronts him and then he reveals the truth that he is suffering from blood cancer and has a few days to live.

The rest of the film is how Chakram starts doing things to make Lakshmi hate him by pretending to be in love with Charmy till the film reaches its climax. Sorry Prabhas, it?s a role not suitable for your image as it needs a hero who is slightly matured. Vamsi had a miscast in the young upcoming Prabhas who is labeled as an action hero to do this tearjerker. Charmy and Asin have done justice to their small but insignificant roles but did Asin really dub for the film? One could identify S.P Shalaja?s voice! Prakash Raj does his ham act. Brahmanandam proved once again that he is good in his business.

Will Krishna Vamsi choose (lift) his story and plot in future with more discretion?

Verdict: Disappointing
