Actress Shruti’s second wedding has collapsed with her husband, the journalist-turned-film director Chandrachud, approaching a Bangalore Family Court seeking to annul the marriage.
His appeal comes in the wake of Chandrachud’s first wife approaching the court seeking justice. She had alleged that Chandrachud had not divorced her before tying the knot with Shruti. Recently, the Family Court issued notices to Chandrachud as well as Shruti.
On Saturday, Chandrachud appeared before the court and urged it to keep Shruti out of the matter. “Shruti is a nice lady. I do want these issues to affect her. I know that it is a challenging situation for me. But I don’t want Shruti to suffer because of me. That’s why I am seeking the annulment of the wedding,” he told the media.
However, Shruti, who has a teenage daughter of her first wedding with director S Mahendar, is not available for comments.
Two weeks ago, the actress was admitted to a hospital in Bangalore because of food poisoning. But rumours spread that she had attempted suicide because of her personal crisis. The actress later clarified that she had not attempted suicide.
Shruti and Chandrachud married under controversial circumstances on June 6 this year at the Kollur temple in coastal Karnataka.
Their marriage was marked by the absence of Kannada film personalities. The actress formally separated from Mahendar following irreconcilable differences, including her relationship with Chandrchud, last year. Soon, Mahendar married his relative while Shruti entered wedlock a year later.
