Tamil film industry touched 102 releases in the first half of 2014. Every month about 20 to 25 new movies are getting released in a highly competitive market.

Remember every year about 300 films are being censored with only 150 to 160 of them getting a theatrical release.

Marketing has become the most important tool for a movie to be commercially successful.  Only 12 movies of 150 movies had tasted commercial success and rest 92 % of the movies may have recovered their cost of production or failed miserably.

With all these difficulties, the producers are forced to sell their copyrights to various platforms or distribution channels of their movie for minimal revenue to cover their losses. Added to that piracy is eating away major revenue for the producers, and it is difficult to curb.

Now director, actor and producer Cheran has come forward to provide an alternative revenue stream for hard pressed film producers, especially those making small films. Cheran's new initiative is called C2H (Cinema to Home)  to help and maximise the revenue with the use of latest technology and unique distribution network.

Cheran feels with C2H network,  producers can release their movies in multiple platforms such as DTH, SET TOP BOX, ONLINE, MOBILE APPS and DVD apart from their theatrical release which can yield additional revenue to them.

As per their press release-"C2H Networks, DVD Bazaar has created a strong network of 120  distributions and 6000 dealers in 33 districts spread across 385 Taluks of Tamil Nadu in order to distribute movies at an instant to audience of Tamil Cinema. We believe with this strong network, home delivery option and affordable pricing of legalised DVD's, we will be able to curb the piracy in a slower rate".

The press release further adds -  C2H Network is working closely with DTH and SETTOP BOX operators on a mutually beneficial revenue sharing model to deliver movies to 55 Lakh Tamil subscribers across India. We have also built online streaming and mobile apps for viewers across the globe to view their favourite movies at comfort of their own with Pay Per View options. We believe these widespread  movie distribution platforms will help producers to attain additional revenue without sale of their copyrights.
