Coco-Cola India unveiled its summer 2005 campaign in south India at the Park Sheraton hotel in Chennai today (April 18) by introducing Tamil superstar Vikram as their new brand ambassador.
Vikas Gupta, Vice president, marketing Coco-Cola India said: “We are entering into an exciting new partnership with National Award winning actor Vikram. His genuine portrayal of roles, versatility in acting and immense popularity among the classes and masses alike makes him the perfect brand ambassador”. The first ad in the “cool drink na.. Coco Cola” series portrays Vikram as a typical Chennai rowdy (cashing in on his 'Gemini' and 'Dhool' image) who comes to the rescue of two innocent women (Shreya Reddy and Meera Vasudevan) being conned by a shop assistant.
The commercial is created by McCann Erickson and written by Ramanuj Shastri, their creative director and directed by Rajeev Menon. The ad is surely going to be a hit as it incorporates the essence of a Tamil superstar movie- dramatic entry, punch line dialogues and a catchy sign off jingle. It works as Vikram has a “Cool action hero image”.
Confessed Vikram: “All of us put our heads together and created a storyboard for this 50 seconds entertainer, with a catchy jingle- “Coke Podu”.”
