Controversies follow state film awards

It is widely believed that the Kerala state film awards have made most of the usual critics silent for the simple reason that all those who had sent their entries got some award or the other.
There have been certain surprise choices this year and the same is being widely discussed in the various social media sites of late.
The first to raise his voice against the award was Traffic director Rajesh Pillai, who didn’t hide his disappointment on the cold treatment for his film and some of the noted films.
Traffic won only one award, for the best screenplay.
Actor Thilakan wondered how an actor like Dileep competes with the versatile genius Mohanlal and win an award when his acting is more mimicry than histrionics.
Director B Unnikrishnan expressed his protest against ignoring a fantastic film like Melvilasam.
