Crucial Day for Kollywood

Today (Feb 9) is going to be a very crucial day for Tamil cinema.
Will the “unofficial”workers strike in the industry come to an end?
The workers have been on strike demanding revision of wages as per earlier agreement, while producers were not willing to fully implement it.
The joint meeting held on February 6 between Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Film Employees Federation of south India (FEFSI) over wage revision held at the state governments Labour department office failed.
More alarming is that FEFSI had appealed to their colleagues in other states, to stop the shoot of Tamil films. Two days Gautham Menon had to stop the shootof his Jiiva-Samantha starrer Neethane En Ponvasantham in Hyderabad.
Now everything hinges on today’s meet for a peaceful settlement. The state government is going out of its way to bring the warring groups together and sort out the issue. Already for nearly three weeks there has been no shooting.
