Dhanush is my good friend: Tamannaah

Tamannaah made heads turn in the recent Telugu films 100 % Love which is a huge hit and Badrinath. The question on everybody's lips is - Has Kollywood lost the demure actress to Telugu cinema ?

The actress spoke to Sridevi Sreedhar from Kandy in Sri Lanka, where she is shooting with Ram Charan Teja for her new Telugu film.

On Thursday (July 7) she had a Tamil release Venghai, after a long break. She is happy that the film has taken a good opening. Excerpts

Venghai has opened well and people are appreciating your performance.
The reports I am hearing from my unit regarding Venghai is very encouraging. Usually in mass masala films, heroines  are there for glamour and the song 'n' dance routine. But in Venghai, I play a sort of catalyst in changing the destiny of the hero played by Dhanush. I enjoyed working for the film.

Why is it that after Venghai you don't have a single film in hand?
It is not my conscious decision, not to do Tamil films.  Right now, I am committed to three films this year in Telugu, which are all meaty roles. Next year I will be concentrating on Tamil (Smiles)

Is director Hari a tough task master?
He was a delight to work with. He is so focussed with a pucca script and is fast and knows what he needs from his actors. He even looks into each and every details including the colour of my costume to the right expression.

This is your second film with Dhanush. Do you think the chemistry between you both was an advantage?
I have very few good friends in the industry and Dhanush is one buddy whom I can always depend on. On the  chemistry between us, you can see it in the song shot in Malaysia. I love that song.

Which is your favourite song?
Kaalankaathale and Yenna Solla Pore are my favourites.

Your costumes in the songs are classy. Do you take special care these days?
For the first time, I am working with Chaitanya Rao and he has done a good job. Hari sir's inputs were very helpful. I too love my costumes
in Kaalankaathale song (Smiles) shot in Malaysia.

What film are you currently shooting?
I just reached today and it was my first day at shoot for Charan's Racha. We are shooting in the jungles in Sri Lanka and this is going to be a long schedule.
