Friendships in tinsel town are brittle. There are no permanent friends; there are no permanent enemies’ in Kollywood. A chance meeting, a concerned balm on ruffled egos, a warm breaking of ice conversation and everything is hunky dory again.
Case in point is the cozying up between Dhanush and Silambarasan at SIIMA Awards in Dubai last week. They were the high profile guests at SIIMA, the first global awards for excellence in South Indian cinema in Dubai on June 21 and 22.
The young actors who had a blow-hot-blow-cold relationship have today emerged as the best of buddies and good professional friends in a span of four days in Dubai.
So how did this reconciliation happen?
The grapevine is that initially there was this cold vibes between the two when they landed in Dubai but soon as the day progressed, at the Gen-X awards, Dhanush cheered when Simbu got on stage to collect the Most Stylish Actor Award.
Predictably, when Dhanush received his Sensational Actor of South Cinema trophy, Simbu and his good friend Manchu Manoj whistled and egged him on.
Subsequently, the two started hanging out together at shopping malls and after-parties and the icing on the cake was when Dhanush called Simbu up on stage when he received the Best Actor Award from Boney Kapoor and Sridevi the next day.
Introducing Simbu on stage, Dhanush said, “He’s a better dancer and a better singer than me… who else, he’s our young superstar.”
They sang Kolaveri song together which had the Dubai audiences going berserk and the sure to boost TRP’s of the show when aired on Sun TV.
And when it was time to return back to Chennai, they preferred to fly back together and had a blast on the Emirates flight.
