Ever since director Aashiq Abu announced his forthcoming film Virus, there were discussions all over about what the subject of the movie could be. And as many had already guessed, Virus is about the outbreak of Nipah virus that created great panic in the minds of Malayalis, some months back.

The Nipah viral attack happened in the Malabar region, especially in areas close to Kozhikode.

The highly effective steps taken by the Kerala government, the medical fraternity and many others helped in evicting the scare. However, the virus attack took away some precious lives, which included a young nurse named Lini Puthussery, who passed away after falling ill to the virus while taking care of Nipah affected persons. Lini’s last letter to her husband, before she left the world, still remains a painful memory.

There are reports that suggest Revathy is playing Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja teacher in Virus. Rima Kallingal is said to be playing Lini.

The cast also includes Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Kalidas Jayaram, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Remya Nambeeshan, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothen and Chemban Vinod Jose.
