Noted Director Gutta Ramineedu (82) passed away in Chennai on the 29th of April. He is survived by wife and three daughters.
Ramineedu was born in the Chataparru village near Eluru. He made many memorable movies in Telugu and he was the first director to shoot a film completely in Hyderabad, Maa Inti Mahalaxmi (1959), which was a big hit. The film completed fifty years this year.
Some of his popular films are - Kalimilemulu (1958), Maa Inti Mahalakshmi (1959), Chivaraku Migiledi (1960), Anuragam (1963), Palnati Yuddham (1966), Bhakta Potana (1966), Bangaru Sankellu (1968), Talli Kutulu (1971), Mooga Prema (1971), Chairman Chalamayya (1974), Pratikaram (1982), Rajakumar (1983) and Yagnam (1991).
He introduced music director Chakravarthy to Tollywood. Also he introduced Girija's daughter with the film Prateekaram. His film Yagnam which was based on Kalipatnam Ramarao's famous play won many of Nandi awards.
