Director Rasu Madhuravan (44) who specialized in rural, family-based films like Mayandi Kudumbathar, Pandi Oliperukki Nilayam, Muthugu Muthaga and Gori Palayam died this morning in Chennai. He was fighting a losing battle against throat cancer.
Rasu Madhuvaran is survived by his wife and two daughters. His funeral will be held in his hometown of Madurai tomorrow. The director had a strong script sense and his characters could reach out to the audiences in small towns and villages in Tamil Nadu. And his films were made on a low budget with little known stars, still were profitable for all concerned.
At the time of his death, he was working on his next film, Sogusu Perundhu Nilayam, which had run into some difficulties. The film will now be taken up by one of his assistants.
