There is hardly a month more for Diwali 2012, which falls on November 13. Kollywood producers and distributors are running helter skelter trying to fix good theatres.
The biggest release this Diwali is Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Thuppakki, directed by AR Murgadoss and produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu and marketed by Gemini Film Circuit (GFC).
The other film which is confirmed for Diwali is Prabhu Solomon directed Vikram Prabhu’s debut film Kumki produced by Lingusamy’s Thiruppathi Brothers and marketed by Studio Green. Both Thuppakki and Kumki are in the last stages of post-production and will be censored by the end of the month. They have started booking screens in various towns in Tamil Nadu.
The other films which are waiting in the queue are Silambarasan’s Podaa Podi, which is the launch pad of Varalakshmi Sarathkumar. The film directed by Vignesh Shivan is produced by Hitesh Jabak and marketed by Gemini Film Circuit. The music of the film by Dharan is already a rage. But will Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) be able to release two films- Thuppakki and Podaa Podi simultaneously for Diwali?
Meanwhile Ravi Devan’s Kallathuppakki, the film that gave headache to Vijay’s Thuppakki is also gearing up for a Diwali release.
Thangar Bachchan’s Ammavin Kaipesi has also announced a festival release along with Mansoor Ali Khan’s Lolu Dhadha Paraak Paraak. How many of these films will release for Diwali will be known only closer to the festival of lights.
