It is two weeks to Diwali 2012 in Kollywood. The pre-release fireworks are yet to begin, as the industry is caught in an vicious battle for supremacy among members of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC).

The TFPC president SA Chandrasekhar is facing a crisis, as a no –confidence has been made against him by rival group led by Keyar. Diwali’s biggest release is SAC’s son Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Thuppakki  produced by Kalapuli S Thanu, the treasurer of TFPC.

Thuppakki is slated to release on November 9 worldwide in Tamil and Telugu. The film directed by AR Murgadoss is the most awaited film which will hit atleast 800 to 1000 screens for Diwali.

STR’s Podaa Podi is the other big Diwali release eyeing a November 13 release. The music of the film is topping the charts. Producer Hitesh Jabak is planning to release it in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.
It is almost confirmed that Studio Green’s Vikram Prabhu’s debut film Kumki directed by Prabhu Solomon has dropped out of the Diwali race. The post-production especially graphics is taking time.

Two small films which are looking for theatre dates during Diwali are Thangar Bachchan’s Ammavin Kaipesi and Mansoor Ali Khan’s Lollu Dada Parakh Parakh.
