A few hours more, for the biggest ever Diwali in Kollywood in a decade. Two of Kollywood’s top stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Suriya are clashing with their respective Velayudham and 7aum Arivu.
It is billed as the “clash of the titans”, as both the stars have a huge fan base spread across the world. The audiences are also looking forward to watch both the films and lighten up their Diwali.
7aum Arivu is actually premiering today (October 25) with “paid premiers” (PP) in select Chennai screens. It is for the first time a Tamil film is releasing a day earlier with a PP. There is a huge buzz around the film, for which advance booking started a week earlier.
Vijay fans have made Velayudham advance booking a huge hit. The film has been sold out for the weekend in most of the screens. The fans of Ilayathalapathy are also planning to have big Diwali celebrations in select theatres.
The other big Diwali release is Shah Rukh Khan’s RA. One, which is also getting dubbed into Tamil. The highlight of the film for Tamil viewers is the one-minute special appearance of superstar Rajinikanth.
The film is being premiered today night at a popular multiplex.
Meanwhile the sky has opened up in Chennai, as the monsoon season has started with heavy rains from Monday night. But as a trade analyst said: “ Not unusual, as it rains during Diwali season in Chennai. There is nothing to worry as tickets for both the Tamil films have been sold out till the weekend”.
