Real-life crime cases have always inspired filmmakers and it seems Aamir Khan has been bitten by the same bug too. The story of his upcoming film Talaash revolves around a murder and reportedly bears resemblance to the much-publicised Aarushi murder case.

Director Reema Kagti and producer Aamir, who also plays the lead in the film, have reportedly studied the way the police in Delhi's suburb Noida, handled the Aarushi murder case and how the CBI went on to re-investigate it.

Aarushi, 14, was found murdered at her parents' Noida residence May 16, 2008. The body of her domestic help Hemraj was found the next day on the terrace of the house. Her parents are accused of murdering both their daughter and the domestic help, and destroying evidence.

If sources are to be believed, the makers of the film had asked for newspaper reports on the challenging case, which continues to puzzle them.

They reportedly wanted to know why Aarushi's case was transferred to the CBI and what were the shortfalls in the police investigations.

However, when contacted, the film's spokesperson refused to comment on it.

The film, co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Aamir, also features Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor. It releases November 30.
