Now that the Vishu movies are not faring that well at the box office, all eyes are on the forthcoming Malayalam releases. There are no less than eight films scheduled for release on April 27.
Here is a closer look at those movies, which will make the theatres busy this weekend.
Mammootty and Joy Mathew are playing the lead in Uncle, directed by Girish Damodar. Karthika Muraleedharan, Muthumani, KPAC Lalitha and Kailash include the cast.
Director M Mohanan, who has directed hits like Kadha Parayumbol and Manikya Kallu, has a casting coup of sorts with Sreenivasan and son Vineeth Sreenivasan in the main cast. Urvashi, Shanthi Krishna and Kottayam Nazir include the cast. Nikhila Vimal is the heroine.
Unni Mukundan comes in a variety of get ups in director Kannan Thamarakkulam’s Chanakyathanthram. Anoop Menon, Shivada and Sruthi Ramachandran include the main cast.
Suraj Venjarammoodu and Rima Kallingal play the lead in director Jubith Namradath’s Aabhasam. The film had problems with the Censors and is said to be handling some sensitive issues.
Sharafudheen, Siju Wilson and Krishna Sankar play the lead roles in director Mohsin Kasim’s Thobama, co-produced by Alphonse Puthren. Punya Elizabeth Bose is the heroine.
Suveeran, who won the National award for his film Byari, is back with Mazhayathu. The film has Aparna Gopinath, Nikesh Ram and Manoj K Jayan in the lead roles.
Urumbukal Urangarilla director Jiju Asokan’s Premasoothram has Chemban Vinod Jose and Balu Varghese in the lead roles.
Aashiq Vanna Divasam
Cinematographer turned director Krish Kymal’s Aashiq Vanna Divasam has Priya Mani playing the lead.
