There is a buzz that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya starring Amitabh Bachchan might be premiered at the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) this year. However, when we called up Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s office, their spokesperson said, “An offer has been made to us by GIFA to premiere Eklavya at their show, but nothing has been finalized yet. We are still thinking and haven’t made any commitment to GIFA.” Eklavya will be Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s first directorial venture after Mission Kashmir. The film is a story about a Royal family and stars Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Sharmila Tagore, Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan, Jimmy Shergill, Raima Sen and Amitabh Bachchan. When asked when are they planning to release the film in India, the source says, “We are planning for a late December release. Most probably Eklavya would be the last release of the year”.
Meanwhile, GIFA was started in 2004 when it was held in Dubai. This year the ceremony is happening in Malaysia. GIFA will open on December 7th with a celebrity football at the stadium in Malaysia where the song ‘Mitwa’ was shot from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. The same evening will also see a fashion show based on a unique theme. The final awards ceremony will however, take place on December 9th.
