Rajinikanth’s magnum opus Enthiran, directed by Shankar and produced by Sun Pictures is opening today.

The first show of the film took place in Chennai simultaneously in many suburban theatres around 5.30 in the morning.

The fans had collected around theatres like Kasi and newly opened AGS Royal in Vilivakkam from midnight. After conducting pooja of the print box and “Paal Abhishekam’ of the huge cut-out outside the theatre, the shows have started.

Meanwhile the Mumbai critics are going ga-ga over Robot. Noted television critic Anupama Chopra tweeted: “Robot is a riot. Nothing in Bollywood matches the visual of hundreds of Rajinikanths forming a snake.”

Rajiv Masand another respected television critic tweeted: “Thoroughly enjoyed Robot. Wish it were shorter, but greatly admire the imagination & ambition of Shankar. Shamelessly good fun. Rajni rocks.”

Reports coming in from overseas markets where the film has opened big with special paid previews must be sweet music for Sun Pictures.

Well now what matters most is whether the Tamil Nadu audiences like it or not, which will be known in a few hours. Watch this space.
