Bhojpuri Film Awards

ETV Bihar/Jharkhand & ETV Uttar Pradesh have come up with a unique and first of its kind Bhojpuri Film Awards. The awards will be given in nineteen categories in a colourful function on 8th June, at Banaras — the historically acclaimed cultural city.

In the last week of April, a function for announcement of these awards was held in Mumbai, in presence of many big film personalities of Bhojpuri Film Industry. Bhojpuri Superstar Ravi Kishan, Kunal Singh, Rani Chatterjee, Rinku Ghosh, Swati Verma, Smriti Sinha, Sambhavana Seth, Vinay Anand, Sudip Pandey, Akhilesh Mishra, Director Bobby Singh, and many other celebrities attended the function.

While there is already one film award given in Bhojpuri Film Industry every year, ETV’s Award will be unique because of its democratic nature. "We will go to remote villages to take the opinion of audience... right from the audience, to cinema hall owners, to the employees of cinema halls... we will involve everyone in the process of polling," said Santosh Kumar Pandey, senior producer (ETV) and the mastermind behind this award.

Other than using its own Channels ETV Bihar/Jharkhand & ETV Uttar Pradesh/ Utterakhand, ETV is also planning to use cinema halls showing Bhojpuri Films for creating awareness about this award. During the opening and intervals, promos will be shown to motivate the masses to participate in polling for this award. While selecting winners, 50% of the points will be given by Jury; where as the other fifty percent will be as per the opinion poll.

"We are planning to use SMS Poll, and since most of the Bhojpuria population lives in remote villages, we are also planning to print the opinion poll form in all leading newspapers in Bihar/ Uttar Pradesh, so that people can simply fill that, and send back in favour of their favourite film/ artist," added Pandey.
