Mohanlal and his all-time favourite director Priyadarsan are coming together in Gitanjali. Two years back they had done Arabeem, Ottakom, P. Madhavan Nayarum in Oru Marubhoomikadha, which was an average grosser.
Gitanjali is sort of a sequel to Fazil’s 1993 classical horror-thriller Manichitrathazhu. Priyadarsan speaking exclusively to sify.com said: “The film is not exactly a sequel. The character played by Mohanlal in Manichitrathazhu Dr. Sunny Joseph, the brilliant Psychiatrist is back to solve another mystery. Here also he will be appearing only at the interval block. The first half I’m introducing two newcomers who will be the romantic lead in the film. ”
Priyadarsan also confirmed that Shobhana who played Ganga will make a one scene appearance in the film, which will also have a huge supporting cast. Priyadarsan and Dennis Joseph are jointly writing the script. It will have music by Vidyasagar, camera by Thiru and production design by national award winning art director Ilayaraja.
The shoot of the film will start on September 5, after Mohanlal completes his schedule of Tamil film Jilla with Vijay. Gitanjali is being planned as a quickie and is likely to be over in a single schedule in Thiruvananthapuram and surrounding areas.
