Gautham Karthik and Thiru are super excited about their Friday release Mr.Chandramouli. Talking about the inception of the script, Thiru says “Gautham and I have been talking for more than a year about teaming up for a fun filled action based family entertainer. Our producer Dhananjayan also wanted to produce a film with Gautham and all of a sudden, everything fell in place but if you ask me whether I wrote the script keeping Gautham in mind, my answer is a big No"
On what really attracted Gautham to give his nod for Mr.Chandramouli, the actor says “The script itself was very impressive. I liked my character Raghav in the film which has comedy, romance, action, and sentiments. The film had lot a scope to perform and I always want to try different genres and overcome my limitations”.
Talking about that one unique aspect of Mr.Chandramouli, the director says “If you look at my previous films, they all were different and had unique concepts. What we tried to do in Samar has become Bigg Boss now. In Naan Sigappu Manithan, we talked about narcolepsy and in Mr.Chandramouli, I wanted to showcase crimes happening in call taxis. I wanted to explore it with the evergreen father-dad sentiment angle. I have also tried something different in the hero’s characterization in the second half of the film, which we haven’t revealed it in any promo so far”.
Both Gautham and Thiru are also thrilled to have yesteryear actor and the former’s dad Karthik in their team.“It was certainly a new experience for me. At home, he is my dad and I never treated him as a star but during Mr.Chandramouli shoot, I came to know his legendary status as an actor”, says Gautham
“This is the first time that both Gautham and Karthik are sharing screen space. It’s good to see the father-son chemistry in the shooting spot. In fact, Karthik sir wouldn’t directly appreciate Gautham, he would come to me and rave about his son’s performance”, exclaims Thiru.
Gautham asserts that there shouldn’t be any comparison with his previous adult comedy hit ‘Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuthu’ and Mr. Chandramouli. “I’m sure, those who watch the film will come out of the movie hall with a happy face".
Thiru says that although Regina Cassandra plays the pair of Gautham in the film, Varalakshmi’s extended cameo will stay in the minds of the audiences. Gautham says that the beach song ‘Yedhedho’ number from Mr. Chandramouli is magical and it’s a team effort. “Thiru and I had discussed the dream romantic sequence even during the script narration but the song became viral because of the team effort. Our cinematographer Richard didn’t use any light and delivered extraordinary visuals with the help of mirrors. Brindha master too was inspired by the ambiance, music and her choreography is another important factor”.
Thiru heaps praise on the film’s music composer Sam CS. “More than songs, Sam’s priority was the background score, as he took 35 days for the re-recording. Even if I suggest something in the sound mix, he would improve the output and send us the required music immediately but most of the composers would either say no or demand more time for such tough task”, says the director.
Mr. Chandramouli produced by G Dhananjayan is all set to release on July 6.
